Mark Keane Kundalini Yoga

As my first post, it seems only right that I write about freedom…freedom, in its essence is all that truly matters.

One should feel free to do whatever one wants to do, whenever they want. That is the essential premise I am making, and would argue is the defining factor that drives human motivation. One should lead this life as if one consciously chose it, and allow every thought and action as if consciously chosen. In other words, we must all take full responsibility for our lives to make sure it is bringing us the greatest joy.

So many only see glimpses of this freedom, whilst on holiday, or with a few drinks on the weekend, or perhaps becoming absorbed in a good movie. However, the reality is so many of us then default back to become pre-occupied to one extent or another, to feeling like a victim to circumstance, and hence not in control of one’s destiny.

Why is this?

The truth is simple. The predominant state of humanity is, as it has been for quite some time, been based on an incredible misconception. This misconception is that our identity is  the personality built up through life. Our identity has a name, a history, a set of beliefs, talents etc. However, all of this is transitory, and therefore any identification we have that is rooted in what is transitory will ultimately leave us feeling insecure, vulnerable and afraid.

Why are we so afraid?

We are afraid to die. We are so very afraid, that everything we have spent so much time building will eventually collapse into an abyss, a void of nothingness. Because of this life seems futile, and we may also be afraid to really live.

We can’t die

The truth is even though our body, and our personality will die, as all things do, on the level of form, who we really are will not die, it can not. Who we really are is eternal, and it has no inherent form, or name. It is our awareness, the single point from which all our thoughts about ourselves, and the world springs from, the emotions that accompany these thoughts, and even the creation and regeneration of the body itself.

To know this is to be free.

Once we know this, then we miraculously become free of negative thoughts and emotions that hold us back, and we no longer feel we need to restrict our actions. Moreover our thoughts and actions will be in full alignment with the divine, and therefore our chosen mission here on Earth.

It is a life beyond fear. It is a life of freedom.

The key to this realisation is in meditation. In my experience meditation is powered by the force of life that the Yogis call Kundalini. It is this same force that clears out all the obstacles we have to aligning ourselves with this simple truth.

In this, I invite you to join me!
