Fire and Water
This week I attended a talk by Dr Masaru Emoto on his groundbreaking research on the effect of words/music, be they spoken or written, on water quality. This is proved by photographing frozen water crystals. Negative words will carry a similar vibrational quality which will show up in a deformed crystal. Similar deformities are found in low quality water, such as in many metropolitan cities. However, positive words will produce beautiful crystals.
We can learn from this how our thoughts and words spoken directly effect our bodies, largely made up of water.
Even more significantly we learn of the inherent intelligence of water, which is not in any way inert. Thinking about it, water is the stuff of life. All life on this planet came from the sea, is made up of water, and needs to be replenished with water in order to stay alive. We may say that water is life. Emoto would say, water is the blueprint of God.
Emoto believes water is made up of love and gratitude. Love is the active principle in the universe. We may liken this to the masculine principle, or fire, whereas gratitude is receptive, the universal feminine principle, more traditionally associated with water. For example Mother Mary is the Goddess of the sea.
In Yoga or any other authentic practice we are bringing the presence of our awareness deep into the body. In this way we are bringing heaven to earth. To continue with analogy from our largely understood Christian heritage, Jesus walking on water may be seen to symbolise this light of awareness we have to shine on our inner waters of the body.
Practically it comes down to how you feel when you chose to be kind to yourself with your thoughts, words and actions versus being hard on yourself. Now I know I have been ‘guilty’ in the past, of being hard on myself. We all have our demons, be they fear, doubt, anxiety, uncertainty, confusion etc. However, if we chose to meditate, think and relate via a neutral or positive mind, we can, and will heal ourselves.
Yogi Bhajan says try the experiment of thinking positively for a week, then see how you feel!
If that seems too much of a challenge, you can try just being mindful when you drink water to rehydrate. The fluid component of the blood (plasma) is replaced in approximately 24 hours, provided you remember to drink enough water. The red blood cells are replaced in a few weeks. So by drinking water consciously with gratitude we can gradually bring a high vibrational quality into our blood stream effectively giving you new super charged blood!
When I went to the famous community in Findhorn, Scotland a few years ago, they told me to say the 4 following things whilst drinking water:
“I thank you water”
“I respect you water”
“I bless you water”
“I love you water”
…and I have being doing this ever since!
But most of all, it is the “attitude of gratitude” that is important, after all we have so much to be grateful, we really do. The more we can humble ourselves to say “Thank you”, the more we become in alignment with ourselves, each other, and the world. With these 2 simple words we can heal the world.
So go on, treat yourself to a drink of water, and show your appreciation, because after all water is a miracle, life is a miracle, YOU are a miracle!
